Leather- Pooja Nagaraj and Zalak Patel

Shoe making has been practiced since centuries. Today, in the world of modernization and factory made products, people do not opt widely for hand crafted products. Also, having become aware of the fact that animals are not supposed to be harmed for personal pleasures, the rate of selling of leather has reduced by 90% in this locality. But this hasn’t stopped India from reducing its production.

This map tells about the journey of leather and its network within India. The data is collected from the Gajjars, a family of shoemakers based in Mojari Bazaar, Madhupura, Ahmedabad and is limited to their business network.
